Are you an aspiring author? Maybe you have a great idea for a book, but aren’t sure how to start writing it — or how to get it published. The team at Izzard Ink can help. We have been assisting new and experienced authors self-publish books for nearly a decade, and we can help you too.

Step 1: Meet with a Publisher

At Izzard Ink, we offer our new clients a free, 15-minute consultation. During this time, you are free to ask any questions you may have, and we will do our best to answer them. This gives you a quick overview of the industry and how it works, and can help give you an idea of what direction you want to go in.

While many authors likely dream of lucrative book deals, the truth is that without experience, clout and an agent, these can be hard to come by. You may want to give yourself a deadline for finding an agent to represent you, after which you will make the leap to self-publishing. The important thing is that the public gets to see and read your book, not that you make the New York Times best-seller list as soon as your book hits the shelves. (See our blog post, Self-Publishing Worked for These Famous Authors.)

Step 2: Manuscript Assessment

As a self-publishing house, we offer printing-only services for those who do not want assistance with editing, graphic arts or marketing. For these clients, we strongly suggest a manuscript assessment. This service consists of multiple editors reviewing your manuscript and giving you feedback. This might include such advice as to cut certain sections, make others clearer, hone character development, etc. — all strategies to improve the final version of your book.

Step 3: Choose Add-On Services

While some authors simply want the self-publishing house they are working with to print their book, others welcome the assistance we offer with editing, illustrations, cover art, marketing, distribution, etc. These services are what make Izzard Ink different. Many self-publishing houses are happy enough to take your money in exchange for printing your book, but if you are a new author, you may make multiple mistakes when you first venture into self-publishing. These could cost you not only money, but success as well.

Izzard Ink wants you to succeed, and we consider your success our success. Unlike a traditional publishing house, however, we do not take a percentage of your earnings. You simply pay a fee upfront, and whatever money you make going forward is yours to keep.
